For the past few months we’ve been working behind the scenes to develop an exciting new creative partnership with the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin (RSB). This partnership aims, year on year, to encourage a fruitful critical discourse between Catalyst’s students, alumni and faculty, and RSB’s orchestral musicians, composers and conductors, catalysing growth on all fronts.
There’s still a bit of work to go before we publish all the details, but in order to meet an upcoming creative deadline we want to let you know a little bit about it first.
On Friday 8th April, we will be opening up submissions for creative proposals to join forces with the orchestra and creative director Annika Haller for the October 7th Mensch, Musik! performance. Exploring the concept of ‘borders’, the collaborators will perform in RSB’s legendary concert venue, the Haus der Rundfunk.
We will be seeking unique, interdisciplinary proposals from our students, alumni and team, with all disciplines encouraged to apply.
Key dates for “borders” performance:
Friday 8th April: Creative brief announced and applications open. This will include details on the theme “Borders”, and what is being sought creatively
Friday 22 April: Submissions close (submissions for future performances will be announced separately)
Monday 9th May: Catalyst creator(s) confirmed
May - beginning July: Creative development
Aug - Sept: Creative delivery
Friday October 7th: ‘Borders’ Mensch, Musik! Performance 2022
