🎬 Catalyst Filmmaking Challenge 2026
January 20–22, 2025
The Catalyst Filmmaking Challenge is back! From 20–22 January, students from different programmes will team up for a wild, 76-hour creative adventure writing, shooting and editing a short film from scratch.
This challenge is all about collaboration and connection: working with new people from different disciplines, building networks and stepping outside your comfort zone. You can nominate your preferred roles, but be ready to jump in wherever you’re needed.
Compete for PRO Accreditation to the renowned FEST Film Festival in Portugal, and make something unforgettable together!
/// How it works:
Over three action-packed days, mixed teams have 76 hours to create their film, complete with a few surprise creative challenges, like a specific genre, line of dialogue, character and prop. Once the clock runs out, we’ll wrap things up with a screening, audience voting and a wrap party 🥂

Open to all Catalyst students across all programmes. Teams will be assembled by Catalyst to ensure there’s a mix of key skills & experience in each. Roles are then self-assigned within teams and can include actors, script writers, directors, DOPs, set designers, sound designers/composers, VFX artists and more.
